Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Plan Apology to King Charles

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have decided to publicly apologize to King Charles III for the pain caused during years of family conflict, the Daily Star reported.

According to the outlet, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently working on a joint statement. A source told the Daily Star that the statement is meant to show the king the respect he expects, without forcing the couple to retract their previous accusations. The step could mark a turning point in the family's relationship after five years of disagreements sparked by the couple's controversial interviews, their Netflix documentaries and Harry's book "Spare."

Talks followed UK visit

Discussion of a possible public apology began right after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's recent trip to the United Kingdom, during which they met the king at his Highgrove House residence. The meeting was Meghan's first visit to Britain since the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.

No retraction of past claims

The source said everyone involved agrees that trust needs to be rebuilt. A public apology would not amount to surrender or a retreat from the couple's earlier statements about racism and mistreatment within the royal family, the source added. Instead, it would acknowledge that the family feud has gone too far and reflect a wish to end the yearslong conflict.

Harry recently described his hair color in an interview as "sunset auburn." Speaking with former rugby player Joe Marler, the Duke of Sussex said he had been teased about his appearance at school and given the nickname "ginger."
