Pope Leo XIV Peru Mass: how to get free tickets in Lima

Pope Leo XIV will celebrate a massive closing Mass in Lima on November 16, with free tickets distributed online in early November, church officials announced. The open-air service at Las Palmas Air Base will mark the final event of the pontiff's official apostolic visit to Peru.

The Archdiocese of Lima confirmed that the public will be able to apply for free digital passes from November 5 to November 8. Officials warned that selling, reselling, or commercialising tickets is strictly prohibited, adding that any attempt to trade passes will be reported through official channels.

Las Palmas Air Base, a military installation operated by the Peruvian Air Force in the southern district of Santiago de Surco, has historically hosted major state ceremonies and historic outdoor papal gatherings in the Peruvian capital. The closing Mass is expected to draw worshippers from across the country to conclude the papal tour.

Ticket booking dates and platform

Worshippers wishing to attend the service must complete a mandatory online registration process. The Archdiocese of Lima confirmed that passes will be issued exclusively through the official digital platform of Ticketmaster Peru.

Registration will open on Thursday, November 5, and run through Sunday, November 8. Church administrators stressed that tickets will not be sold at church doors or physical box offices, and every attendee must secure an electronic pass before arriving at the venue.

Under the system rules, each applicant can request up to eight tickets in a single booking. This allows one person to claim an admission pass for themselves and register up to seven family members or friends at the same time.

Step-by-step registration on Ticketmaster

The Archdiocese of Lima outlined a six-step process for securing passes on the Ticketmaster Peru website. Users must first create a personal account by clicking on the sign-in and register option, submitting their personal information, accepting the website terms and conditions, and verifying their account.

After logging in, users must search for the official event listing named Santa Misa en la Base Aerea Las Palmas, or access the booking form through direct links published by church organisers. Applicants must then select the General Public category and specify the number of tickets required, up to the eight-ticket maximum.

In the fourth step, users must select an available attendance block from the venue map. When multiple tickets are requested in a single booking, the platform automatically places the entire group into the same physical block, while generating their designated access gate and arrival time slot.

Each ticket must then be individually registered and nominated with verified identification details. Organisers require the exact full names, surnames, and official identification document numbers for every single attendee. Peruvian citizens must enter their Documento Nacional de Identidad number, while foreign visitors must register their passport number or foreign resident card number.

Once all attendee information is verified, the user confirms the transaction. A digital ticket containing a unique QR code is immediately generated and saved to the user's Ticketmaster account, where it can be downloaded to a smartphone or printed out on paper.

Las Palmas gate opening hours and entry rules

Las Palmas Air Base will open its entrance gates at 10.00 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, more than twelve hours before the liturgy begins. Organisers scheduled the overnight opening to encourage a steady, gradual arrival of pilgrims throughout the night and early morning, avoiding bottlenecks before the Mass begins at 10.30 a.m. on Monday, November 16.

Every attendee must enter strictly through the specific gate and within the time window printed on their digital pass. Security personnel will inspect the QR code on each mobile or printed ticket and match it against the visitor's registered physical government identification card.

Groups who booked their passes together do not need to arrive at the military base at the same time. Church officials explained that individual group members can enter independently at their own pace, provided each person carries their own nominated ticket and matching physical identity document.

Accessibility, children and public transport advice

Worshippers with disabilities or reduced mobility will have access to a dedicated zone inside the air base. Organisers established a separate entrance route through Gate 2, where trained volunteer personnel will be stationed to provide personal assistance to attendees.

Disabled visitors may attend alongside one designated companion, though both individuals must hold their own valid tickets. Children of all ages also require their own nominated ticket and physical identity card, and all minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Strollers and baby prams are permitted inside the grounds for infants and young children up to five years of age.

Because of heavy security deployments and road closures around the air base perimeter, the Archdiocese of Lima urged worshippers not to travel in private vehicles. Church authorities strongly advised attendees to use public transport networks to reach the Surco venue.

On-site medical care and security rules

To support the crowds during the long gathering, the military base will provide free drinking water stations and public toilet facilities across all public spectator blocks.

Emergency support teams, medical assistance tents, and parked ambulances will be stationed in multiple zones across the grounds to treat worshippers who require urgent attention.

Church authorities reiterated that entrance tickets remain strictly non-transferable and free of charge. Organisers emphasized that any unauthorized sale, scalping attempt, or fraudulent commercial activity will be referred directly to law enforcement officials through official church reporting channels.
