Maryoy Sánchez, a Peruvian goalkeeper who plays for Deportivo Cali, has confirmed she is safe after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia.
The quake was felt strongly in major cities including Bogotá, Medellín and Cali, home to Colombia's leading football clubs. More than 100 people have died.
Many people had expressed concern for Sánchez's wellbeing following the disaster.

Sánchez said she was thankful to everyone who had written to her and worried about her from Peru, adding that, thank God, she and her teammates were fine and nothing had happened to them. She said she was truly grateful for every message, call and moment of concern, and sent everyone a big hug.
