Although the wish initially appears to work, the protagonist soon discovers that controlling another person's affection carries a sinister price. The plot rapidly turns into a nightmare filled with supernatural terror and suspense.
The film runs for one hour and 48 minutes and holds an 18-plus rating, restricting viewer age due to its intense horror scenes and frightening themes.

The digital release of Obsession comes amid a widespread commercial resurgence for low-budget horror cinema in 2026. Modestly budgeted thrillers built around inventive original premises have delivered strong returns at the theatrical box office this year.
Much of that genre boom was driven by the viral horror film Backrooms, which scored a major theatrical hit earlier in the year. That film is set to make its subscription streaming debut on HBO Max in the near future.
