Nicole Kidman made a surprise appearance in Sydney on Friday, delighting fans at a screening of Practical Magic 2 at HOYTS Cinemas Entertainment Quarter.
Viewers at the special showing were stunned to see the 59-year-old Hollywood star walk in, greeting the crowd with roaring cheers and applause as she declared, "I couldn't let you have margaritas without me!"

Kidman entered the theatre in an ivory satin and lace floral dress from Erdem's Resort 2027 collection, featuring delicate red rose embroidery and draped detailing. She paired the gown with bright red pumps.
Erdem gown and a toast to fans
"It's really lovely 28 years later, as women, to still be here," Kidman told the crowd. "So thank you for decades and decades of support. I love you."

She went on to reveal she had flown to Australia to surprise her fans Down Under after walking the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere earlier in the week. Her daughter Faith was also in attendance at the Sydney screening.
Kidman closed out the evening by leading the audience in a final midnight margarita toast before departing, a nod to the witches' signature drink from the Practical Magic films.

Los Angeles premiere and a Versace moment
The Sydney appearance followed Kidman's turn at the Practical Magic 2 premiere in Los Angeles on Monday night, where she was joined by co-stars Sandra Bullock, Maisie Williams and Joey King.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight shared online this week, Kidman was asked what designer she was wearing on the red carpet. She stumbled over her words, asking the interviewer "Huh?" before adding, "This is Versace. Have fun. Let's party!"

For the Los Angeles carpet, Kidman wore a sheer, black-lace gown designed by Pieter Mulier for Atelier Versace, paired with a lace choker. The asymmetrical dress featured a thigh-high slit.
Fan reaction online
The Entertainment Tonight clip amused social media users, who flooded the comments on Instagram with reactions to what many called an "iconic" moment.

"She makes me want to wear a wig and get drunk," one fan joked, while another wrote, "She's such an icon."
"'This is Versace. Have fun. Let's party!' My new life motto," said one commenter, quoting the actress, while another wrote, "It's the 'HUH?!' for me." One more added, "Oh she had a TIME," and another wrote, "I'm living for Nicole. She's the prettiest, most real and fun, down-to-earth Hollywood lady and cameras love her too."

About Practical Magic 2
In the sequel, Bullock, 62, reprises her role as Sally Owens alongside Kidman as her sister Gillian, two witches attempting to live normal lives despite their family curse. The film marks Bullock's first movie project in four years following her hiatus from acting.
The story takes place 25 years after the original 1998 film and is adapted from Alice Hoffman's 2021 sequel novel, The Book of Magic. Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest also return, reprising their roles as Kidman and Bullock's eccentric aunts from the first movie.
Practical Magic 2 will be in cinemas only from September 10.
