Kayali founder Mona Kattan has revealed her fragrance layering methods for modifying sweet gourmand perfumes, introducing two distinct scent combinations featuring her brand's new fragrance, Boujee Kitty Caramel Milk | 22.
Kattan explained that fragrance layering, the practice of applying multiple scents together to form a custom aroma, serves as the core signature of Kayali. She stated that the brand designs its fragrances specifically to be combined rather than worn strictly in isolation.
Gourmand fragrances represent a category in modern perfumery defined by dessert-inspired notes such as caramel, vanilla, chocolate, and pistachio. Fragrance layering allows wearers to adjust these heavy sweet notes by combining them with lighter or sweeter companion scents.
Composition and Origin of Boujee Kitty
The new Boujee Kitty Caramel Milk | 22 belongs to the warm gourmand family and features caramel notes throughout its profile. The scent opens with salted caramel, caramel milk, and coconut, transitions into white chocolate, vanilla caviar, and marshmallow, and settles into soft musk and caramel sandalwood.
The fragrance is sold at Sephora in both 10 ml and 50 ml bottles.
The perfume originated as an April Fools' Day joke in 2025, when Kayali announced a fake fragrance called Kitten Musk | 41. After receiving a large volume of comments and requests from followers, Kattan and her development team decided to turn the concept into a real commercial product.
Daytime Scent Combination
For daytime wear, Kattan recommends pairing Boujee Kitty Caramel Milk | 22 with Yum Pistachio Gelato | 33. The latter fragrance features notes of pistachio and hazelnut cream.
When combined with the salted caramel of Boujee Kitty, the hazelnut and pistachio create a fresher profile while maintaining a creamy texture. Kayali described the resulting effect as similar to pouring hot caramel over pistachio ice cream.
Evening Scent Combination
For evening wear, Kattan advises combining Boujee Kitty Caramel Milk | 22 with Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar | 42.
In this combination, the caramel milk pairs with notes of vanilla, candied pear, bubblegum, and crystallized sugar. The mixture yields a significantly sweeter and more sparkling fragrance suitable for nighttime.
Kattan noted that these pairings demonstrate how scent profiles can be altered without purchasing a new perfume. She added that layering allows individuals to experiment with existing fragrances, highlight specific notes, and customize their daily scent choices.
