A married couple from Michigan won $136,600, equivalent to about 11.5 million rubles, after the husband accidentally reused a lottery ticket that belonged to his wife, UPI reported.
The 78-year-old winner said she and her husband bought Club Keno tickets together at a restaurant while attending a class reunion.
After leaving the reunion, the couple stopped at a second bar. There, the husband mistakenly used his wife's ticket again instead of buying a new one of his own, and that ticket turned out to be a winner.
The win was unexpected and incredible, to put it mildly, the woman said. She added that the prize money would let the couple breathe freely.
What Club Keno Is
Club Keno is a keno-style lottery game offered by several U.S. state lotteries, including the Michigan Lottery. Players choose numbers on a ticket, and drawings are held repeatedly throughout the day, with payouts depending on how many of the chosen numbers match the numbers drawn.
Michigan, a Midwestern U.S. state bordering four of the five Great Lakes, runs Club Keno through its state lottery commission, which also oversees instant scratch-off games and multi-state draws such as Powerball and Mega Millions. Lottery proceeds in Michigan go largely toward public education through the state's School Aid Fund.
According to the couple, part of the winnings will go toward paying for their grandchildren's college tuition.
