Merrie Lynn Ross, the American actress best known for her 1970s film roles and the daytime television soap opera General Hospital, was spotted on a rare outing in Los Angeles over the weekend.

The star braved the high temperatures in Southern California to run weekend errands. She was pictured getting repairs to her vehicle at a Firestone Auto Care centre before stopping by a Dollar Tree store to do some shopping.

Ross wore a bright summer dress paired with brown sandals and a pink hat for the afternoon trip. She carried a large red tote bag and shielded her eyes with a pair of sunglasses.

Classic film roles
Ross is most famous for appearing alongside Lynda Carter in the 1976 crime drama Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw. In the film, Ross played the character Pearl Baker.

At the time of the release, Carter had recently risen to global fame as the star of the superhero television series Wonder Woman, which began broadcasting in 1975.
According to the online film database IMDb, Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw followed Carter as a country girl named Bobbie. Her character joined a man named Lyle Wheeler for an adventure involving theft, mayhem and murder.

Thriller and television career
The writer and film producer also appeared in the 1982 Canadian action thriller Class of 1984, directed by Mark L Lester. The film developed a strong cult following after its initial release.

In the movie, Ross played Diane Norris alongside the actors Perry King and Roddy McDowall.
Her other notable cinematic credits included the science fiction film The Lucifer Complex in 1978, where she starred with Robert Vaughn, and the 1979 comedy Love at First Bite, which parodied the classic Dracula story.

Beyond her work in feature films, Ross was a regular cast member on General Hospital, starring as the character Emma Lutz. General Hospital is an American daytime soap opera that holds the record as the longest running serial produced in Hollywood.
Family tragedy
Ross is the mother of the late actor Byron Fox. Fox was best known to audiences for his television role as Danny Kessler on the Disney Channel show Lizzie McGuire.
The highly popular comedy series originally aired in the early 2000s. Fox died in 2008 at the age of 22.
