Markos Seferlis, the Greek actor and comedian, has ruled out entering politics, revealing he has received offers to do so in the past.
Speaking to Sasa Stamati on the "Secret" segment of Parapolitika, Seferlis said the political arena does not suit his character or the path he has followed. He said his role is to make people laugh and that he believes he should keep serving that purpose.
He said he would never go into politics, that he had been asked to, but did not believe it was his destiny. His destiny, he said, was to make people laugh, and he believes those with that gift should stick to it.
Compromise and honesty
Seferlis said politics was a completely different field he did not understand, adding that he cannot lie while politics often forces people to do so. He said he was not saying everyone in politics is dishonest, but that entering the system brings pressure from many sides, forces concessions and can change a person's character.
He also spoke about his bond with the public, saying that at 58 he is exactly who he is, genuine, which is why people love him, and that he never wants that relationship to be damaged.
