Mariska Hargitay, star of Law & Order: SVU, said she is "still floating" from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding, telling Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday that the July ceremony surprised her despite its scale.
"I'm still floating from that wedding," Hargitay, 62, said. "It was so spectacular and so intimate, I have to say. I have to say, I am blown away, because when there's a wedding with that many guests, you think, like, 'Oh, okay, it's gonna be that.' And it just wasn't."
More than 1,000 guests attended the wedding in New York City. A smaller, more intimate rehearsal dinner for the couple's closest 100 friends and family was reported to have been held at the Infosys Theater inside Madison Square Garden on July 2.
Hargitay said the ceremony's vows stood out above everything else. "I even say that the vows were my favorite part of the whole wedding," she continued. "It was that magical."
Hargitay's bond with Swift
Hargitay, who attended the wedding with her husband, Peter Hermann, also shared details about her friendship with Swift, including the singer's love of the New York Knicks. In June, Hargitay was spotted sitting alongside Swift, 36, and Haim members Este and Alana Haim at game four of the NBA Finals.
"She was throwing me around like a rag doll!" Hargitay said of the singer.
Asked whether she thought Swift would ever play a dead body on Law & Order: SVU, as many other celebrities have requested, Hargitay wasn't convinced. "I don't know, somehow I think she's super busy," she laughed.
Wardrobe malfunction at the Emmys
Just days before her Kimmel appearance, Hargitay had a wardrobe mishap while hosting the 78th Emmy Awards on Monday. She joined a host of famous faces from across the industry to roll out the blue carpet, but as the group strode forward hand in hand, Hargitay glanced down and called the proceedings to a halt.
"Hold on, we have to go again. My thing popped off!" she announced, before rushing to rearrange her blazer, which had come undone to create a plunging neckline. A sequined undershirt spared her blushes, though she hastily readjusted her outfit anyway. "It's better that it happens here than at the Emmys," she added playfully.
Speaking to USA Today afterward, Hargitay, a Knicks fan, joked that the incident was caused by her enthusiasm on the carpet. "I started going into full-on Knicks-mode, kicking the carpet," she told the outlet. "I was a superhero... just starting to pop open." Asked if it was good luck to get a mishap out of the way early, she said, "Damn straight it is."
Emmy wins for a documentary on her mother
Just days earlier, Hargitay won two awards at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys on Saturday for My Mom Jayne, a documentary she directed about her late mother, the actress Jayne Mansfield. Hargitay received the award for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special, and also won Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program. The film was released on HBO Max in June last year.
Hargitay's turn as Emmys host marked the first time a woman had hosted the ceremony in 15 years. The 2026 Emmy Awards aired live on NBC and Peacock on Monday, September 14, at 8pm EST/5pm PST.
