María Casado joins Canal Sur days after Telecinco exit

Spanish journalist María Casado has signed with Canal Sur Televisión just five days after leaving Informativos Telecinco, where she said a tearful goodbye on 27 July.

Casado will co-host La Gran Audición, a new musical theatre talent show produced by Beon. Entertainment, airing in Saturday prime time on the Andalusian public broadcaster. She will share hosting duties with actor, singer and dancer Pablo Puyol.

The format was created by Dario Regattieri and aims to discover new musical theatre talent across the Spanish-speaking world. It will follow contestants from early casting stages through to the final.

Casado said the show was much more than a television contest, describing it as an opportunity to uncover stories of perseverance, effort and talent.

Casting remains open until 12 August. After an initial online phase, the production team will hold in-person auditions in several cities to select 24 finalists. The winner will star in a professional Beon. Entertainment production.
