An unconscious man aged around 75 was pulled from beneath a pickup truck in Avlona after the vehicle unexpectedly moved and crushed him.
According to the Hellenic Fire Service, the victim was carrying out work on the pickup truck when its handbrake disengaged for reasons that remain unknown, causing the vehicle to move and crush him.
Ten firefighters using three emergency vehicles from the Oinofyta Fire Service were mobilized to the scene to assist in the rescue operation.
Firefighting forces successfully extricated the unconscious man using specialized rescue equipment. Following the extraction, crews placed him on a stretcher and carried him to an accessible location nearby.
An ambulance from EKAB, Greece's national emergency medical service, picked up the victim from the accessible location after firefighters carried him out.

Role of emergency services in Greece
EKAB, formally known as the National Centre for Emergency Care, is the state-run agency responsible for pre-hospital emergency medical treatment and ambulance transport across Greece. The agency operates in coordination with the Hellenic Fire Service, which handles technical extrications, search and rescue, and fire suppression nationwide.
Technical rescue equipment used by fire crews in vehicle extrications includes hydraulic lifting gear, spreaders, and stretchers designed to safely move injured individuals across difficult terrain.
