Today, June 12, is the Day of Russia, one of the youngest public holidays (on June 12, 1990, the first Congress of People’s Deputies of the RSFSR adopted the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Russia).
In honor of this holiday, we have prepared a guide to cool places in Russian cities (and there are many, by the way).
Ufa
abandoned village Novoaleksandrovka

In the 90s, all the inhabitants of this village (due to the environment) moved to more convenient places to live, so this is an ideal place for adventure seekers or those who just want to take a few unusual photos.
“Art Square”

In every city there is something similar to the capital’s “Winzavod” or Artplay, in Ufa “Art Square”. Various shops, showrooms, cafes, bars, workshops and even offices have been gathered. And there are many “Instagram” places that are very important in our time.
Love’s Ice Cave

It is an ideal place for those seeking adventure and an atmosphere of mystery, such as Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings. Inside this cave are huge pillars of ice that look a lot like animal figures (yes, fantasy is okay). This attraction is located 130 kilometers from Ufa, not far from the village of the same name Askino.
Source “Red Key”

The “Red Key” is the largest natural resource in Russia, it is located in the north-east of the republic, in the Nurimanov region, about 125 km from Ufa. Yes, you’ll need to drive it properly, but we assure you, it’s worth it. For a view like this, we would have traveled the same distance! The photos speak for themselves.
Kaliningrad
crown saliva

Incredibly picturesque place: on the one hand the sea, on the other – the bay. If you think there is nothing to do on the Curonian Spit in winter, you are wrong! The Baltic Sea is winter, but in our opinion, even more beautiful than summer. And by the way, there are much less people in the winter season. Therefore, unity with nature is guaranteed.
Cinema “Zarya”

Zarya is a legendary cinema with over 80 years of history, built in 1938 by German architect Siegfried Sassnik. Since then, the interior has not changed: brick walls, black and white photographs and old signs, all this reflects the atmosphere of pre-war Königsberg. It is located in the city center and still works, so we highly recommend visiting this attraction. Meanwhile, James Cameron was here (for the screening of “Titanic”), Michael Fassbender, Jean-Jacques Annaud and Woody Allen. In addition, Zarya hosts the annual Koroche short film festival.
Amalienau

Amalienau is one of the few areas of Kenisberg that was scarcely damaged during the war. It appeared at the beginning of the 20th century and actively developed until the 1920s. Here are the villas of the wealthy residents of Koenigsberg, and the whole area was built according to the concept of “Garden City”. There are still many streets, squares and winding streets here. Therefore, if you want to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the pre-war city, be sure to visit this place.
Yekaterinburg
shartash stone tents

Shartash stone tents are 12-meter rocks of an unusual shape, which are considered a natural monument and one of the most picturesque places in Yekaterinburg.
And personally, it reminds us of where the wizard Merlin from Shrek lives. In any case, the place is very beautiful and even located in the city. Must visit!
“Yeltsin Center”

In 2015, a cultural center named after the first Russian President Boris Yeltsin was opened in Yekaterinburg. One of the main objects of the center is the museum of the political history of Russia and the personality of Yeltsin. But don’t think that’s the only thing this place is popular for. Now there are contemporary art exhibitions, film screenings and conferences on various topics. And it was at the Yeltsin Center that the Gosha Rubchinsky autumn-winter 2018 show was held.
Czechists Town

In the 1920s and 30s, architects from Moscow came to Yekaterinburg to build the city. Since constructivism was particularly popular at that time, whole blocks of houses in this style began to appear in the city. One of the most popular is “Chekist Town”. This is a complex of 14 buildings with residential buildings, a shop, a hostel, a laundry, a hairdresser and even a House of Culture. Overall, the place is extremely interesting and you can also take some stylish photos there.
