The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences sent a letter to its members ahead of the Oscar nomination ceremony. This year’s awards will “honor Los Angeles as the City of Dreams” and “reflect recent events while highlighting the strength, creativity and optimism that characterize Los Angeles and our industry.” Deadline reported this.

Representatives also said they would “move away from live performances” in the Best Song category and focus on songwriters instead. The ceremony will also mark the moments when individual film actors honored the nominees.
“97. Our Oscars will be a celebration of connection and collaboration, the unifying spirit and creative synergy of filmmaking. We will highlight the transformative power of teamwork that brings cinematic visions to life,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Young wrote.
We would like to remind you that the 97th Oscar nominees will be announced today via live broadcast on the official website and other platforms. The event was previously postponed twice due to raging fires in Los Angeles.
