Katie Leung, who played the sorceress Cho Chang in the Harry Potter films, will now portray a real-life witch (metaphorically speaking) in Bridgerton. The actress has taken on the role of the story’s main antagonist.
Entertainment Weekly writes that Leung’s character description says Araminta Gan is a twice-married woman with two widows and two daughters. The new season will focus on the romantic story of Benedict, who meets a beautiful masked stranger at a ball. The series creators said the series will draw inspiration from the fairy tale “Cinderella.”
“The amazing thing about season four is the struggle between the old-fashioned fairy tales and the reality of the world. Both are true. You have to hold both the romance and the reality. ‘True love is somewhere in the middle,’ Luke Thompson, who plays Benedict Bridgerton, told Tudum.
Joining Leung in the film are Michelle Mao (Sweet Home, Goosebumps) and Isabella Wei (The Raven, 1899), who will play Araminta’s daughters Rosamund and Posy.
