Casa Seat closed 2022 last year with 194,500 visitors, more than the 125,000 of the previous year. And since it opened in June 2020, more than 350,000 people have visited the space between Paseo de Gracia and Diagonal. In his diary he offered 225 public events with a diversity of proposals cultural such as concerts, literary readings, exhibitions and performances; current conferences with national and international guests, as well as colloquia that discuss the latest mobility trends.
Naturally, It has been a year to remember. First of all, Casa Seat celebrated its second anniversary by claiming the power of unity between different disciplines such as culture and mobility, art and sport, alliances such as economy and sustainability or global news with a local perspective. As a result of these alliances, it has made proposals such as the exhibition ‘Fusta i Rodes’ on skateboarding as a form of urban culture, or the exhibition ‘Football. Art Icons’, which connected graphic art with football and showed a program of activities with protagonists such as Patri Guijarro (FC Barcelona) and Sergi Darder (RCD Espanyol). Also in the field of sports, figures such as Alexia Putellas, Joan Laporta and Ronaldinho have visited space.
In addition, to connect people, ideas and projects, the space has hosted proposals such as the ‘TEDxBarcelona Awards’, which rewarded projects related to the 2030 Agenda; It supported the Marketing Leader Awards, for the most innovative proposals in marketing, and the Emprendedores magazine networking days, which discussed the keys to entrepreneurship.
Casa Seat also paid tribute to Barcelona in 2022 with the exhibition ‘Barcelona’92: the impulse of a city’, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the 1992 Olympic Games. With this exhibition, it wanted to give citizens the opportunity to relive those moments to experience with protagonists such as Javier Mariscal, Carlus Padrissa or Manuel Huerga. In terms of architecture, the space once again took part in the 48H Open House Barcelona festival, granting 2,933 citizens access in one weekend and once again becoming the second most visited building in Barcelona. In addition, on December 1, the advent calendar on the facade was illuminated, in which the illustrations of the most emblematic buildings of the city, created by the graphic artist Pablo Benito, PeBe, were revealed every day.
The second edition of Merry Days has been transformed into a Christmas village and a toy factory and, thanks to the collaboration of Christian Escribà, offers a Christmas experience of scents, colors and flavors for all ages. In the absence of three days to close the exhibition, it is expected to exceed 80,000 visits.
As usual, culture was present in Casa Seat’s program with an agenda full of exhibitions, concerts and literary presentations. Special attention is paid to the art of photography with events such as the visit of Steve McCurry, author of ‘Afghan Girl’; the conference of Lalo de Almeida, the winning photographer of the World Press Photo Long-Term Project 2022; and the ‘Solar Portraits’ exhibition, the photographic journey through Rubén Salgado Escudero’s travels.
The music is provided by well-known figures such as Rosario Flores, Álvaro Soler, María Peláe and Rodrigo Cuevas, who have played leading roles in some of the hall’s great moments. In a live music and conversation format, audiences have had the chance to live this experience up close with their favorite artists. The literary program is completed by the literary cafés with presentations of the latest publications by Joan Fontcuberta, Miriam Reyes and Joan March.
And because a car brand like Seat can do no less, the most important mobility issues were addressed throughout the year at Casa Seat, with the programming of conferences with national and international experts. For example, Jorge Pereira, Principal Scientific Officer of the European Commission, gave a lecture on 5G and connected mobility, or Chris Thomas of Assembly Ventures gave the keys to investing in mobility. In September, visitors to Casa Seat had the opportunity to see for the first time the Cupra UrbanRebel Concept, the brand’s new electric car that will be launched in 2025, and learn about the keys to the design of this vehicle by Jorge Diez, director of Seat and Cupra Design.
Likewise, Casa Seat was and remains one of the permanent population vaccination centers against Covid-19 used by the health department of the Generalitat de Catalunya in the province of Barcelona. Casa Seat has been working tirelessly since December 2021 as a vaccination room to help immunize the population. And now it confirms that it will continue to do so in 2023, becoming one of the few remaining permanent points in Barcelona available to citizens who need to administer one of the doses of the vaccine. And it is that at the outbreak of the pandemic, Seat SA made itself available to society to fight COVID-19, once again demonstrating its social commitment. When the long-awaited vaccine arrived, the company donated its resources, both physical and professional, to public health to assist in the vaccination process and help accelerate the immunization of the largest number of people in the shortest possible time. Since then, it has administered more than 120,000 vaccinations to people of all ages.
