Television presenter Laura Woods has hit back at a social media troll who claimed her face does not move by sharing a makeup-free video.
The 39-year-old ITV sports broadcaster had originally posted a video on her Instagram Stories sharing her predictions for the upcoming Premier League season. However, one user responded to the clip by asking: "Does your face move?"
Woods published the troll's comment to her profile and urged her followers to respond. "Let's start shaming these odd men back," she captioned the post.
She then posted a video of herself wrinkling her brow to prove that her face retains full movement, before criticising people who target expectant mothers. She insisted the troll "shouldn't be having a go at pregnant women," adding in a caption: "I wouldn't mind... but seriously? Let's not have a go at women either way eh? Especially not pregnant ones."
Pregnancy and Engagement
Woods is currently expecting her second child with her fiancé, 30-year-old reality television personality and fitness coach Adam Collard. Last month, she returned to the United Kingdom after spending six weeks in New York presenting coverage of the FIFA World Cup for ITV.
The couple went public with their relationship in October 2023 after they began dating. They became engaged in September 2024 when Collard proposed on a beach in St Ives, Cornwall.
Last year, Woods spoke publicly about suffering a heartbreaking miscarriage when she was 11 weeks pregnant. She became pregnant again a month later, and the couple subsequently welcomed their son, Leo.
Opening Up About Loss
Collard recently broke down in tears during an episode of the Channel 4 television series Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins while recalling the miscarriage. Woods later addressed the "awful times" the couple endured together.
Sharing a clip of Collard on the show with her Instagram followers, Woods wrote: "We really had some very awful times last year, but this big, beautiful man has got me through every one of them. And I've been so very proud watching him on this x."
In a separate post, Woods discussed the "confusing" emotional journey of grieving for the lost baby while finding comfort in her son Leo. "Sometimes I look at Leo and I think of the baby we'll never meet, while also knowing we wouldn't have Leo without it happening," she said.
She recalled words of support she received during her hospital care: "It's a very confusing feeling. When it happened a wonderful nurse in the hospital said to me - this little one wasn't meant for this world, so this process is its way of keeping you safe."
Woods explained that the advice offered her immense solace after the loss. "And that really did fill me with a lot of comfort. So I thought I'd share that in case there's anyone reading that has been affected by miscarriage too. Lots of love," she wrote.
