After the vaccines, the talks. According to the National Order of Pharmacists, pharmacists have been authorized to practice since 7 November short interviews with pregnant womenregardless of the stage of their pregnancy.
The target. the goal? The raise awareness about taking potentially dangerous drugs for the fetus.
Pharmacists can guide pregnant women
Pregnant women cannot consume any medications during pregnancy. While, for some, an insert specifies it directly on the packing box, for others it is not necessarily clear or recorded.
Thus, thanks to this brief interview offered directly in the pharmacy, pregnant women will be able to be guided on their consumption of drugs, know whether or not to interrupt an ongoing treatment and talk to them about the importance of vaccination.
Specifically, during this interview, the pharmacist will be able to:
- Take stock of medications prescribed or taken for self-medication
- Inform about the risks of taking certain drugs on the fetus
- Discuss the risks associated with the consumption or use of other substances such as alcohol, food supplements, herbal medicine, aromatherapy
- Direct them to the ANSM documentation entitled “Drugs and pregnancy, good reflexes” available on the Cespharm and ANSM websites, as well as send them the link to the “Pregnant woman” page of the site via secure messaging at ameli.fr, and the guide produced by Health Insurance entitled “My Motherhood”
This interview will be invoiced at 5 euros including taxes.and will be increased, in overseas departments and regions, by a coefficient of 1.05.

After the National Agency for Medicines Safety (ANSM) campaign in June 2022, made to raise awareness among pregnant women about their consumption of medicines during pregnancy, this interview with a pharmacist will probably help a large number of people and limit the risks of taking dangerous drugs.
As a reminder, medicine, even without a prescription, should never be taken without the advice of a doctor, midwife or pharmacist when you are pregnant. While seven out of ten women say they are informed and aware of the dangers of tobacco or alcohol during pregnancy, many are those who do not have this same awareness of the use of drugs.
