What do the categories in military ID mean?

The other day, Vladimir Putin, in his morning speech, declared partial mobilization from September 21. It is known that 300 thousand people will be searched in total. According to Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, priority is given to those who have the appropriate military specialties, as well as those who are fit in terms of age and health. The five categories of eligibility for military service are:

• A – fit for military service;
• B – fit for military service with minor restrictions;
• B – limited eligibility for military service;
• G – temporarily unfit for military service;
• D – ineligible for military service.

Category A is divided into four groups:

• A1 The most healthy citizens. Usually they are taken to the navy, air raids and airborne troops, special forces. Soldiers in this category should be 170-185 cm tall, not have a serious illness in the past, have perfect eyesight and hearing, and distinguish colors and tones close to each other. They may serve in the GRU special forces or other elite units.
• A-2 – almost the same here, only citizens of this category may have had diseases or serious injuries in the past that did not affect daily life and military service. Troops up to 182 cm can be sent to submarines, and lower ones can be sent to engineering troops, tank crews, artillery and surface fleet.
• A-3 – completely healthy soldiers with minor vision problems that do not require correction. The height of the soldiers must be at least 180 cm. They can serve in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in the guard companies of the missile troops, in the guard and chemical units.
• A-4 – soldiers who have problems with visual acuity. They can serve almost anywhere, for example, in motorized rifle corps.

Category B is further divided into 4 groups:

• B-1 – this includes citizens with minor health problems that do not interfere with everyday life. They can serve in the Air Force, air assault units, military intelligence, border troops, and marines.
• B-2 – soldiers with minor ailments in the form of allergies. As members of tank crews, self-propelled units can serve as artillery in submarine and surface fleets.
• B-3 – Citizens with pathologies. They can serve as specialists in infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, missile launchers, fuel and lubrication units, and other chemical units.
• B-4 – this category includes soldiers with visual impairment, hearing, gross heaviness, 2nd degree flat feet, second degree chest deformity. They can work in engineering, road, railway units, radio engineering units.
