They might bother us, we still love them, the Dr Martens! Some people even love them just wearing them, until they become comfortable as slippers.
Except that Dr Martens models can remain uncomfortable for a long time. What can trigger a vicious circle : we try to make them at our feet, we end up bleeding, then we abandon them, before returning and having to start over from the beginning. Curse !
Dr. Martens, objects of torture … at least for a while!
In fact, everything is a question of successful dating between the shape of the shoe and that of the foot. The skin has to get used to thickening in the right places so that it no longer blisters and gets along well. And as you see below, you have to suffer to thicken …

On Twitter, Dr. Baptiste Beaulieu complains about the bleeding wounds left to him by his Dr. Martens. Ironically, they were created by another doctor, this time from the German army: Klaus Märtens, who in 1947 developed the first air cushion shoe for orthopedic use!
Since then, the company has changed a lot. After decades of manufacturing exclusively in the UK, many models have been produced since 2003 in China, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. Many aficionados have since regretted it a decline in quality, lifespan, but also in comfort of these iconic shoes.
But everything is the same here the best tips to break your documents without losing skin!
1. Anti-blister dressings to be applied in prevention
This is the most obvious trick, and all the better, because it prevents damage well. Instead of waiting for the bulbs to use them, you can apply with precision preventive hydrocolloid dressings. This is the academic name for anti-blistering products such as the well-known Compeed!
They usually contain hydrocolloid gels. This absorbs moisture and facilitates healing. These dressings also have a cushioning effect that will prevent your heels from being shocked into your Doc. Yes, it’s a mini foot airbag.

2. The silicone heel guards (or the millefeuille of socks)
Less well known, silicone heel guards can be found in large and medium-sized stores or in the corners of Amazon and AliExpress. Unlike bandages, this type of the mini heel sheath will be easily reusable, allowing the cost to be amortized over time. And it will therefore prevent the repeated friction responsible for blistering and wounding in the Doc.
Another trick in the same vein, a little more Mad Gyver, is to wear several large socks. You will get a similar result for not an extra round.

3. Hammer blows thinking about your ex
If you have a hammer handy, you can play cobbler! Take the less angled side of the tool and fill it with chunky sports socks for orphans or an old kitchen towel. This will avoid leaving bad marks on the skin.
Then you just have to give it all small strokes on the heel of the shoe (the part that welcomes your heel) in order to soften it without deforming it too much. I swear, it’s fun!

4. Bra padding as a heel airbag
If you have a padded bra that you no longer use, you can use it to create a heel airbag in your documents yourself. Secure with double-sided tape, or rather: superglue!
This pillow will always be there for you, ready to welcome you with all its softness.without you having to manage the logistics of bandages or heel protectors.

5. Buy second hand documents
Definitely, the second hand overflows with quality! On Vinted, LeBonCoin or elsewhere, you can find current Dr Martens or even limited editions from the past, for a lower cost. And above all they will have the advantage of having already been softened by other people before you: the skin of the buttress will have already been more or less broken. They sacrificed themselves for your style, so make them proud!
That’s it, we let you try the tips above – all combinablealso, in case of severe pain.
