Exclusive: Writer and director Michelle Garza Cervera signed with WME following her film debut. Huzera. The film, written in collaboration with Abia Castillo and produced by Machete and Disrutiva, premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. Garza Cervera won Best New Narrative Director and the coveted Nora Ephron Award for his critically acclaimed work in the film.
XYZ Films picked up the feature before its premiere in Tribeca. The company acquired the film for its North American release and is one of the first titles under its new distribution arm.
Huzera It is scheduled to be screened in competition at various festivals, including the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival, the Fantasia Film Festival, the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival and others to be announced soon.
Prior to this film, Michel became famous for his short films, which were screened in more than 100 international film festivals.
Garza Cervera continues to lead Vision Entertainment.
