Aaron Sorkin “Camelot” postpones Broadway opening until spring 2023

Lincoln Center Theater production by Lerner & Loewe Camelot Aaron Sorkin with a new book will arrive on Broadway next spring and not this fall, the producers announced today.

CamelotWho will recreate Sorkin (who writes the book based on the original book by Alan Jay Lerner) in his T.o Kill a Mockingbird Directed by Bartlett Sherry, it will now begin screening at Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater on Thursday 9 March 2023, with the official opening on Thursday 13 April 2023.

Work was scheduled to start earlier this November. The reason for the postponement of the program was not mentioned.

The musical features characters such as King Arthur, Queen Ginevra and Sir Lancelot, as well as the original soundtrack with lyrics by Alan J. Lerner and music by Frederick Lowe, including “If Ever I Will Leave You”, “What Do the Simple People does?” and the title Song. The 1967 film adaptation starred Richard Harris, Vanessa Redgrave, and Franco Nero.

When Sorkin’s project was announced in March, the Lincoln Center Theater called it a “new take on the classic fairy tale” and said the musical “would be reinvented for the 21st century.”

The new casting and product design team will be announced at a later date.
