The researchers discovered an incredible tendency and finally realized what affected pricing in art. It turns out that collectors pay much more for pictures of blue colors. This was reported by the Press Service of the High School of Economics.

Pricing in art has always been an incomprehensible thing for layman, and at the same time has no clear formula. In order to understand what the cost of the picture depends on, the International team of scientists carried out a large -scale study. They analyzed about 42 parameters that may affect a certain amount of payment for the collector’s art object. Some of these criteria are known: the size of the canvas, the materials, the presence of the author’s signature, the history of property and the catalogs.
During the study, the main hypothesis revealed that the color of the picture played an important role in pricing: “To confirm the hypothesis, the authors examined about four thousand abstract paintings sold in SOTBIS and Christis auctions”.
In order to confirm the hypothesis, experts turned into rules of merging the colors of two famous artists: Russian abstraction Vasily Kandinsky and Switzerland Johannes Itten. With the help of these rules, scientists evaluated how the shadows in each picture were selected.

The results of the study showed that the cost of the pictures depends on standard factors such as dimension, application technique and date. At the same time, the colors of the picture played an important role. As it is understood, art lovers prefer combinations of blue tones or three neighboring flowers on a circle.
It is interesting that some collectors are ready to pay a few million dollars for a work of art for food for everyone. In 2023, Crypto entrepreneur Justin San did so. Maurizio, which cost 469.8 million rubles, tasted the work of Kattelan. Meanwhile, the event was repeated with an art object a month ago. Read more here.
