Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek became the prime suspect of the theft. The actor almost went to jail.
The incident took place in Los Angeles. Although Rami now remembers this as a funny anecdote, he was sure that he would spend the near future behind bars. The celebrity was falsely accused of stealing a woman’s purse and robbing a liquor store. Police roughly detained the actor and said the culprit was Latino, and Malek fit that description.
“A Caucasian friend of mine was smart enough to say, ‘Actually, sir, he’s Egyptian, not Latin.’ Malek told The Guardian: I remember laughing in the police car thinking that this was a very dangerous situation and that I was going to jail for something I didn’t do.
The actor also said that it was very difficult for him as a child of an immigrant family. He also spoke absolutely no English until he was six years old. Malek added that his mother had a turbulent past and did not want to talk about it.
