Kinopoisk announced that the shooting of the second season of the Monastery series has started. Mark Eidelstein (newbie Yura), Philip Yankovsky (Barsanuphius’ father), Svetlana Ivanova (Barsanuphius’ ex-wife) and Diana Enakaeva (Barsanuphius’ eldest daughter Alice) returned to their roles. The director of the project and co-writer of the script was Sergei Popov, and this will be his first experience as a series director.
By the way, in the continuation of the drama, new characters played by Igor Vernik, Vlada Lukina and Polina Malikova will appear. In the story, Mark Eidelstein and Philip Yankovsky’s characters go beyond the monastery and explore the world. A young novice finds himself for the first time in noisy Moscow, where various temptations await him. The second season will be shown in Kinopoisk in 2025.
Let us recall that the director’s chair was previously occupied by Alexander Molochnikov. “The Monastery” premiered in November 2022. The series ranked first among the 20 most popular movies and TV series on air at the end of the year. At the time of its release, it achieved 2.2 million views, breaking an absolute record on Kinopoisk.
