The blockbuster “Deadpool vs. Wolverine” brought together a galaxy of comic book characters, but unexpected problems arose in Daredevil.
Viewers happily saw on screen Blade, played by Wesley Snipes, Johnny Storm and again by Chris Evans. And even Elektra, played by Jennifer Garner. However, Jen’s ex-husband did not join the team, although rumors about his participation circulated long before the shooting.

Director Kevin Smith, who helmed the Ben Affleck-starring Daredevil movie, was genuinely surprised by this. “I was surprised he didn’t appear in Deadpool and Wolverine,” the 53-year-old director tells PEOPLE. “I thought he would be one of the new ones.
What could have caused Affleck’s absence is known to everyone. Perhaps his decision was influenced by problems in his personal life. Clearly, he was also planned to be in the film. After the credits, a shot of Ben as Daredevil appears.
In the film itself, Jennifer Garner, as Elektra, makes a joke about him. When asked where Daredevil went, she says he killed him a long time ago but she’s not worried about it anymore.
