Korean skincare is definitely on the rise in recent years. There are those who have even completely abandoned classic beauty products to implement a routine made of 100% made in Korea products. Haven’t taken the big step yet but want to? I did this a few months ago and here’s everything I wish I’d known before purchasing any snail slime serum I noticed while scrolling through TikTok.
Korean skincare isn’t always clean
If you pay attention to your skin and, more generally, your health, then you need to be the kind of person who carefully checks the INCI list of your beauty products. I might as well tell you right away, sometimes you will be surprised when you find out the ingredient list of some Korean products. Even if their packaging seems to include all the elements that could recall the iconography of clean products, unfortunately they are not always. Endocrine disruptors, eternal pollutants, ingredients not authorized in the European Union… Korean products can contain many elements that can harm your skin and more generally your health. Obviously this is not the case for all Korean products! But still keep your eyes open!
Korean skin care isn’t always better for your skin than others
Because each skin has specific needs, it’s difficult to know how it will react to a new product or routine. And although some Korean beauty products enjoy a good reputation, sometimes the skin can tolerate them poorly and react by becoming dehydrated, revealing some imperfections or even developing a complexion that did not exist until then. To quickly see the signs and stop the application of the product that could be problematic, it is important to test one cosmetic at a time for a certain time and observe the different reactions of the skin if you notice that the latter changes consistency, in this case, it is better to discontinue the product in question and start with a safe routine.
Korean skin care sometimes includes unusual ingredients
Korean skin care includes many raw materials that we have used little or not at all in European cosmetics. Result? Our skin hasn’t necessarily had the chance to get used to them, which can lead to the appearance of redness, dryness and other skin reactions. To prevent this phenomenon from occurring on the face, it is always advisable to first apply the new product(s) to the heart of the wrist and wait 24 to 48 hours observing the skin’s reactions. If there is none, you can use the product on your face without any problems.
