To fight against violence against women, we walk on Saturday 25 November

In the fight against gender violence,The road remains long, and sometimes it seems in vain. But it is also paved with light : the one who only has words give birth. Those of activists, authors, survivors. Everyone These words must be said for them to be heard. This is why it is important to walk this Saturday 25 November.

Speech is freed, but the violence does not stop. This is the sad and revolting observation that we can make by looking at the data on domestic violence: in 2022, the police and gendarmerie registered more than 244,000 victims of domestic violence, the vast majority of whom were women, among whom the majority of the attackers were men. A figure growing by 15% compared to 2021, which is more than double that of 2016.

Naturally, these numbers increase as more talk becomes available. But how to explain that feminicides continue to accumulatethree years after a Grenelle on domestic violence which, if it had been a failure, would have allowed us to lift the veil on the extent of the needs necessary to fight against this violence?

After the grand declarations, where are the facts?

“2.6 billion euros are needed to train children and adolescents in non-violence and consent” explains Jessica Suzes, member of the national coordination of #NousToutes, on to miss.

But after the big declarations of a government that seems far from these vital considerations for all women, where are the shares? The associations and collectives wait, without seeing anything coming, and the bill continues to grow.

Right between 1um and on October 18, eight women died as a result of gender-based violence. They were called Séverine, Loana or even Assunta. She’s an almost every other day woman. And she’s just too much.

So how can we maintain hope, when the struggle sometimes seems futile and the world is increasingly anxious?

Speak the words so they are heard

Because this fight is just and, if the road is long, it is also paved with light : the one who only has words give birth. Those of journalists, activists, thinkers, such as Laurène Daycard, who for many years has written on the topic of feminicides, in particular on to missand whose extraordinary work helps make them visible.

The work of Rose Lamy, who with her acute and intractable gaze sheds light on the prejudices in the media treatment of feminicides, but also on those in our society, which give rise to “monsters”, which we would like to believe come from children’s stories, when they are actually part of our entourage. And naturally the words of the survivors, of the women who have the courage to speak to give it better, and to free it.

Everyone These words must be said for them to be heard. This is why it’s important to keep pounding the pavement and why you need to walk this Saturday, November 25th.

“We must come because it is important to demonstrate more than ever that the road belongs to us, that we are numerous and determined. Fear will change sides and we start now, all together on November 25th” thunders Jessica Suzes of #NousToutes. We can’t say it better.

Saturday 25 November, to miss we will go on a journey to combat violence against women. And you, are you coming?
