Without knowing it, you are probably using the wrong tool to detangle your hair

When it comes to detangling, not all tools are suitable. But which brush should you avoid? An expert has answered this question and it may be that the tool you have been using so far is not the right one.

You may not think it, but detangling your hair is a real science that is sometimes difficult to master. Round brush, flat brush, comb… Sometimes we get lost among the infinite possibilities available to us. Because how do you know which is the right tool to eliminate knots without damaging the fiber or the scalp at the same time? A hair expert and trichologist, Rachel Valentine, answered his dilemma that we all encounter through a video published on TikTok. And his explanations might make you reconsider using some of these hairstyling tools…

The perfect brush is not what you think

For lack of space, to save money or simply because we don’t see the point… Thousands of us are satisfied with the same hairbrush. A tool that is used for both styling and detangling. Unfortunately there is no universal brush on the market.. And in some cases some should even be avoided, as Rachel Valentine explains:

“Round brushes and combs are not designed to detangle hair at all. »

But what do we criticize about these two tools? The comb, according to the expert, would have teeth that were too rigid and close together, which would cause great harm to both the roots and the tips. “Not only will it pull the root, but it will also damage the tips”warns TikTokers. The round brush, on the other hand, detangles little (this is normal since this is not its main function) and its bristles are too sharp for the scalp. On the other hand, these two styling tools do their job very well when it comes to carrying out fun drying with the hairdryer or accompanying the straightener in straightening.

But then what should you use?

We don’t necessarily know, but there are brushes specifically designed for detangling! Their peculiarity? Much more flexible teeth, of different sizes, which will be able to untangle knots without pain and above all without attacking the scalp. These little wonders, often colourful, have been specially designed not to damage the hair fiber during the sometimes dangerous detangling exercise. Because more flexibility also means less breakage, which will allow you to avoid fly lines and other frizz. So why deprive yourself of it?
