Monday 6 November, the author Snow Sinno has added a new award to his CV. His novel Sad tiger (ed. POL) won the Femina 2023 award, with nine votes out of twelve.
An autobiographical novel that deals with incest
This autobiographical novel is the book of the events of the literary season. In it, the 46-year-old author addresses the incestuous rapes she suffered at the hands of her stepfather during her childhood, between the ages of 7 and 14, as well as the consequences for her life and the questions these crimes raise. to which the rapist was convicted.
A book that had also offended the sensibilities of some: in October it had been banned in a Breton high school, after the principal had decided to remove the CDI shelves, due to “passages of great violence”.
The Fémina award, an “encouragement” for Neige Sinno
Already the holder of three awards since the beginning of the school year, Neige Sinno is among the finalists of the Price Goncourt assigned this Tuesday, as well as for the Medicean pricethe winner of which will be announced on Thursday 9 November.
As the name suggests, the Femina Prize is made up of an exclusively female jury. “The topic my book deals with is not a topic for women, nor for men, nor for anyone else”he declared to theFrench media agency after receiving the award. “It reminds me of my thesis defense where there were also only women among the professors.
