Before marriage

When and where did you meet?

We met in 2017 at an evening with colleagues. We worked for the same hotel chain, but not for the same facility.

How long did it take you to decide to get married?

After four years of relationship.

Why did you choose this merge method?

Already for love! We also have a little girl who has her dad’s last name, but since I regularly fly alone with her, I wanted to be able to have both of our names to make travel easier and no longer have to carry her birth certificate. demonstrate our relationship.

Did you live together before getting married?

YES.

How did you organize your celebration? How far in advance?

We started two years early. The wedding was taking place in England, I had two very specific dates that coincided with the French bridges and I wanted to be sure to have one of these dates.

Were you both equally involved in the preparations?

More or less, I did the heavy lifting of booking the venue and vendors. Next, we made our lives easier by choosing a hotel that provided meals, drinks, and a DJ. My darling made our wedding cakes, so she had more investment before the wedding.

Was the preparation a source of stress?

Honestly yes, a lot, on the one hand because we had very different ideas about what my in-laws wanted, and on the other because I also put a lot of pressure on myself to make everything easy and accessible for my guests from France.

What were the things you really didn’t want at your wedding?

We didn’t want to get married in church and no games between the spouses during the meal.

Which position seemed most important to you to organize? Which was less?

The location, because I wanted guests from France not to have to travel once there. Then the second important point was the meal: we wanted to demonstrate that in England people ate well (commonplaces die hard).

Was there a time when you wanted to go back?

Not in the sense of “not getting married”, but rather deciding to have a mini wedding in a small group, to avoid comments on how we would have liked to organize our wedding.

Have you had to give up things in your organization to fit your budget?

No, not really, we paid attention to the budget, but without depriving ourselves of this either.

How did you finance your union?

Partly by ourselves and partly thanks to my parents.

Wedding day

Were you stressed on the big day?

No, not particularly, but I was more so the days before, with the last minute preparations.

Did everything go as you expected?

So no, not really. My father felt ill during the journey to the airport, emergency services intervened, but he had to spend a week in hospital for a serious heart problem. So my parents couldn’t attend our wedding.

Do you regret investing so much/not enough in your union?

No, because everything went well and we received so many compliments. I really don’t see how we could have spent less.

Did you regret your choice of guests? Would you have liked to invite others? Less ?

No, there were important people with us and I was very moved that all our guests from France were present.

Can you name 3 moments that marked you during this day? For what reasons?

  • The day before the wedding I received a very nice message from my dad which moved me very much.
  • The moment of the ceremony, where we could finally see each other looking beautiful
  • My speech as a man, with one part delivered in flawless French.

In which expense item do you not regret having it? Has it all gone out? For what ?

The babysitter saved our lives by taking care of our daughter! Plus, the food was really good.

If you could go back in time, what would you change?

That my parents could come!

Do you think marriage has strengthened your relationship?

Yes and no, we already had a child, so we were already together for life, but we are happy we did.

Are you still together now?

YES.

What are your big future plans as a couple?

We will be going on our honeymoon soon and expecting our second child!

Thanks to Sam and Tiphaine for sharing this beautiful moment with us.
