Danny Masterson: reported at the beginning of #MeToo, the Scientologist actor sentenced to 30 years in prison

His name was one of the first to come up in the MeToo era. Danny Masterson, one of the stars of the series That 70’s, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for two rapes committed in 2001 and 2003. The victims accuse the Church of Scientology of having dissuaded them from contacting the police.

He is also famous for playing Steven Hyde That 70s show regarding his membership in the Church of Scientology. At the age of 47, American actor Danny Masterson was sentenced to 30 years in prison for rape in Los Angeles.

The Church of Scientology allegedly protected Danny Masterson

His name had been among one of the first to come out during the accusations at the dawn of #MeToo In March 2017but justice was served only years later.

This Thursday, September 7, a Los Angeles court ruled in favor of two women who accused Danny Masterson of raping them in his Hollywood Hills home, by force or intimidation.

The first attack occurred in 2001the second inside 2003While Danny Masterson was at the height of his fame (also worn by Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, That 70s show aired on Fox from 1998 to 2006). Now registered in the sex offender database, the actor received the maximum sentence he has faced, at the rate of 15 years served consecutively for each case.

A third woman has filed a complaint against the series actor sect, but the jurors did not reach the unanimity necessary to reach a verdict. The three women, all Scientologists for a certain period of their lives, testified against the Churchexplaining that he was discouraged from filing a complaint under penalty of retaliation.

As remembered Variety, the actor has always maintained that he is innocent. As for his lawyer Philip Cohen, he stated during the hearing that the complainants perhaps had done so “altered or manipulated” their testimonies, motivated by “hate, revenge or money”.
