It is local progress that we would like to see extended to the national scale. After Saint-Ouen last May, it is up to the municipality of Abbeville, in the Somme, to establish menstrual leave for the city’s agents, revealed France Bleu.
The city council of the municipality voted unanimously his experiment this Monday July 10th. Thus, Abbeville’s agents will be able to take advantage of it from 1 January 2024 and for one year.
And how does it work ? Agents will have to present a medical certificate, and those suffering from painful periods and/or endometriosis will be able to get days off with pay.
In Saint-Ouen, two days off
If, within a year, the Municipality realizes that the medical certificate could be a problem for obtaining leave, it plans to make changes. ” We’ll see later “, he declared with France Bleu Michael DelageCGT delegate at the town hall of Abbeville.
If we do not yet know how many days of leave are granted, by way of comparison, the city of Saint-Ouen grants some twoupon presentation of a medical certificate. It also offersorganize the calendar of beneficiariesor that they can work from homewithout any waiting day being deducted from them.
Can these local experiments lead to national legislation? At the end of May, green deputies presented a bill on menstrual leave to the National Assembly. It provides 13 days of vacation per year. For the moment, in Europe, only Spain has taken the plunge, adopting menstrual leave for all.
