The Prostor creative platform from VK conducted a study to find out which series are most remembered by different generations of Russian residents.
The results of the Prostor study showed that the series from the 1970s had the lowest recognition of all generations. “Green expanses”, “Lassi”, “Happy day” were recognized by only 40% of respondents. But those released in the 1980s – “Alf”, “Secret Agent MacGyver”, “Charles in Charge” and others – are better than other generations, familiar to millennials (78%), and zoomers (54%) worst.

Likewise, all the participants remember the cult hit series of the 1990s that literally everyone loved, and we get it! “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, “Beverly Hills 90210”, “Dawson’s Creek”, “Friends”, “Charmed”, “The Sopranos”, “Commissioner Rex”, “The X-Files” were the most recognized – on average, frames and Heroes are familiar to 74% of respondents. But tapes from the 2000s are mostly popular with baby boomers and millennials. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Truckers, How I Met Your Mother, The Clinic, Views, Daddy’s Daughters, Gossip Girl, and others were liked by an average of 64% of respondents.
Not surprisingly, baby boomers and millennials are equally familiar with the 2010s series. When asked about Game of Thrones, Billions, Sex Education, The Walking Dead, Fargo, Magnum PI, and others, 64% and 62% of those generations answered correctly.
The study also revealed that the majority prefer to watch movies at home – 95%, but there are also those who watch TV shows at work – 11%, but almost 40% watch TV shows on the computer.

Note that the platform has launched a free educational program dedicated to web series. To learn how to make a show yourself, you need to apply to direct a Web Series in the second season of the Prostor creative platform. Participants will work with experts such as screenwriter and showrunner Petr Vnukov, director Evgeny Sangadzhiev and screenwriter and director Yegor Chichkanov. Hurry, submit an application and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Russian cinema!
