Brett Radin dies: Talent manager who ran a knitting factory, turned 53

Brett Radin, a talent manager at Knitting Factory Management, died Friday at the age of 53 at his home in Los Angeles. His family did not give a cause of death.

Brian Long, President of Knitting Factory Management, said: “We are deeply saddened by the news of Brett’s death. He brought a flash of positive energy. He was passionate about his artists, very knowledgeable about how the music industry worked and intuitive. He will be missed.”

Morgan Margolis, CEO of Knitting Factory Entertainment, said: “Brett was first and foremost a friend, his passing deeply saddens us all. A truly positive and compassionate spirit on all fronts. He sends love to his family and friends everywhere.

Radin has joined Zero Management’s knitting factory management team. His list of clients included Lee DeWyze, Dave Eggar, Dave Matthews, Tracy Chapman, The Weepies, Vanessa Carlton and Les Claypool.

Radin also worked at 19 Entertainment, where he worked closely with several American Idol winners. Before he was 19, he worked at Ghost Management, where the roster included Chapman, Matthews, Claypool and Carlton, as well as Liz Phair, Grandaddy, Joan Osborne, Minnie Driver and Spacehog.

Radin is survived by his mother Barbara and stepfather Gerry, his sisters Robin and Toby and her husband Nick, and four cousins: Jackson, Jonah, Emery and Theo. The family is planning a memorial service in Los Angeles. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made on his behalf to Kitten Rescue LA.
