The freezer, very real, was leaning against the wall, on a floor littered with other worn objects such as a frying pan, a broken chair or an old bottle. Gold, the complete fresco will have had a very short life : At noon, men posing as cleaners employed by Thanet District Council removed these items, including the freezerthus making it more difficult to understand the work.
Has Banksy self-destructed his work again?
The images of this unfortunate cleaning have been broadcast on social networks. Amid the outraged reactions, some netizens speculated that it is The same Banksy who organized it. As a reminder, the artist had defied the entire monmode on the commodification of art in 2018 when his painting “La Fille au Ballon”, it had partially self-destructed during its auction thanks to a grinder hidden in the frame.
Also, this isn’t the first time Banksy replies present on February 14th. Three years ago, the mysterious artist unveiled a fresco he depicts a little girl shooting a bouquet of red flowers with a catapult.
