The Nielsen Institute has released two top 15 lists that measure the popularity of streaming programs in the United States. A first classification mixes films and original series or resulting from purchases, the second is dedicated to original content. If the old series are still popular, so are the children’s programs … and Netflix beats the competition.

The crown, Damer, Glass Onions, Wednesday… We don’t count the programs that made headlines in 2022, but which ones really stood out ? Now we know the correct answer!

Stranger Things is the most broadcast program in the United States

Like every year for ten years, the American Nielsen Institute has published its annual ranking of the most viewed content on streaming platforms In the USA. Unlike traditional radio or television channels where ratings are calculated based on the number of households, the popularity of a streamed program is counted in number of hours or minutes displayed.

In 2022, the big winner is none other than… Stranger thingswhich sowed competition by reaching the 52 billion minutes viewed on Netflix with only 34 episodes. In second place we find the fifth longest streak in history : For binge watcher NCIS extensioncreated 20 years agocount some 20 episodes and 443 episodes of approximately 45 minutes !

One of the surprises of this ranking is visible from the third place. This year since then, Americans have often put their children in front of the TV children’s content is ubiquitous in the charts. In third place we find the program for the little ones Cocomelonwhile the Disney movie Enchantment ranks fifth.

Whether the year 2023 will re-dealt the cards of the streaming war remains to be seen!
