Netflix has released a trailer and poster for the Korean action film kill boxeswhich will be streamed starting March 31 after a premiere at the upcoming Berlin Film Festival.
Directed by Byun Sung-hyun, Jeon Do-yeon plays Boksoon, a woman who leads a double life – as a murderer and a single mother to a teenage girl. When her contract with a top homicide detective expires, she decides to leave the company to find out what is keeping her daughter from her.
Jeon previously won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival for her role in Lee Chang-dong Secret sunshine and also credits included Unprecedented scandal, The housekeeper And emergency declaration.
Byun’s previous work includes The merciless (2017), which debuted in the Midnight Screenings sections of the Cannes Film Festival, and a political thriller kingmaker (2022).
Produced by See At Film Co of Korea, the film also stars Kim Si-A as Boksoon’s daughter, and Sul Kyung-gu, Esom and Koo Kyo-hwan as her fellow homicide detectives.
The Berlin Film Festival takes place from February 16 to 26.
