Laly Bazán defends Julia Janeiro in Belén Esteban feud

Laly Bazán has publicly defended her great niece Julia Janeiro following an escalating media dispute with television personality Belén Esteban and former family associates in Spain. Speaking to the Telecinco television program El verano se mueve, Bazán offered unreserved backing to the young makeup artist while launching sharp verbal attacks against her critics and rival public figures.

The family row erupted after Esteban, a longtime contributor on Spanish television, published a social media message celebrating the independence of her daughter Andrea Janeiro. Esteban wrote that her daughter was not a nepobaby like others, a comment widely interpreted as a targeted insult aimed at Julia Janeiro, the daughter of retired Spanish bullfighter Jesulín de Ubrique and his wife María José Campanario.

Responding to the comment, Julia Janeiro publicly questioned whether Esteban even knew how to spell the word nepobaby. Rejecting indirect remarks, Janeiro stated that Esteban had spent her entire life speaking about her father despite not being his daughter, describing Esteban as the shadow of Jesulín de Ubrique and labeling her a television meme. Janeiro added that it was ridiculous for Esteban to speak in such terms about her own daughter's sister.

Janeiro later reaffirmed her statements without altering a single word, noting that her parents were very proud of her stance. While Jesulín de Ubrique and María José Campanario have maintained public silence, Janeiro spoke again on Monday while visiting a gym to tone her body. Reaffirming that her previous statements stood, she highlighted her ongoing work as a self employed makeup artist and remarked that as an autonomous worker she only feared the Spanish Tax Agency and personal income tax.

A Great Aunt Steps Into the Media Spotlight

Bazán, who is the sister of family matriarch Carmen Bazán, stepped forward to address reporters after weeks of heightened media scrutiny surrounding the Janeiro family. Carmen Bazán had recently faced public pressure following comments by Camila Naranjo, the widow of late family patriarch Humberto Janeiro, but had chosen to remain silent despite public judgment over how her children responded during their father's decline and death.

In her television appearance, Bazán praised Janeiro as a very good, well educated, and hardworking girl who had never spoken ill of anyone until being drawn into a public war against the mother of her older sister. Bazán demanded that critics leave the young woman alone and stop posting a flood of lies on her Facebook page.

Applauding Janeiro's attacks on Esteban, Bazán asserted that her great niece had simply spoken the truth. Bazán claimed that because Esteban could no longer speak about Jesulín de Ubrique, she was no longer appearing anywhere on television. Bazán described Janeiro as friendly and sincere, before declaring that any women who dared to attack her great niece were old, fat, and ugly.

Rebuttal Over the Late Patriarch's Legacy

Beyond defending Janeiro, Bazán delivered a fierce rebuttal to Camila Naranjo. Naranjo had previously claimed that she was never in love with Humberto Janeiro and accused his children of neglecting his care before his death. Bazán condemned Naranjo for making such accusations against a deceased man, calling her a scoundrel and a liar.

Bazán rejected claims that Naranjo had served as a slave to Humberto Janeiro, alleging instead that Naranjo had taken all of his money, including a monthly sum of 2,500 euros that belonged to him. Warning Naranjo that karma would eventually come for her, Bazán urged her to leave the deceased in peace.

Addressing longstanding family friction, Bazán rejected any idea that her sister Carmen Bazán needed forgiveness from Naranjo. Bazán claimed that Naranjo had previously pursued Carmen Bazán everywhere, alleging that Naranjo had even confronted her sister on the road while Carmen was out running.
