The Ukrainian film and television platform Kyivstar TV has started production on Love Forecast, a new original drama series. The 16-episode programme incorporates elements of melodrama to explore a complicated romance, family secrets and difficult life decisions. Kyivstar TV operates as one of the major streaming services in Ukraine, providing video on demand and live television broadcasts.
The plot focuses on Nadiya and Andriy, played by Milana Bekova and Ivan Mykhailenko respectively. The two characters have lived next door to each other since birth and are bonded by shared childhood trauma. Nadiya lost her mother at a young age, while Andriy experienced the death of his father.
Despite their family losses, the pair grow up together and their long standing friendship gradually develops into a romantic relationship. Their lives change abruptly when Nadiya's father marries again and brings his new wife into their home. The stepmother brings her two children, who had previously been living in difficult financial conditions, to live with them. This introduces a new stepbrother and stepsister to Nadiya, and presents Andriy with new neighbours.
Love quadrangle
The arrival of the blended family triggers a series of events that shift the relationships between the characters and threaten the central romance. The narrative evolves into a dangerous love quadrangle complicated by jealousy, personal ambition and the desire for a better life. The characters are forced to navigate a succession of dramatic and passionate encounters before they can understand what is genuinely important to them.
Daryna Trehubova, a prominent Ukrainian television presenter and actress who holds a leading role in Love Forecast, said the production embraces a classic drama format that resonates strongly with audiences. She said the cast spans several generations of characters, blending established household names with entirely new actors.
Trehubova said the storyline delivers the love, betrayal, secrets and sudden twists that encourage audiences to binge watch a series. She added that viewers currently need these kinds of stories to detach from reality for a few hours, giving them an opportunity to laugh, cry and restore their belief that life can still offer positive surprises even after the darkest periods.
Platform expansion
The principal cast also features Andriy Fedinchyk, Kateryna Manuzina, Artem Ihnatov, Artem Poznyak and Lyudmyla Tyshchenko. The original series is currently scheduled to premiere on the platform in 2027.
Love Forecast will join an expanding catalogue of original content on the Kyivstar TV service. The streaming platform recently released Brave Girl and My New Shore, both of which are four-episode series that also focus on romantic relationships and challenging life choices.
Kyivstar TV is a joint venture between Kyivstar, Ukraine's largest mobile network operator, and the 1+1 media conglomerate. The digital platform allows users from any mobile network or internet service provider to log in using their telephone number. The service can be accessed through web browsers, smartphones, tablets, smart television applications and Xbox gaming consoles.
