Russia’s Association of Tour Operators (ATOR) has shared a checklist of rules and practical tips for travelers heading to China, published by Lenta.ru.
Visitors must complete an electronic immigration form within 24 hours of arrival. Trips to Tibet require a special permit and must be made as part of an organized group tour.
Only power banks bearing CCC certification are allowed into the country. Devices with a different marking or none at all are confiscated, including at transit stops, ATOR warned.
Payments in China rely heavily on QR codes via Alipay or WeChat, and cash is not universally accepted. Card payments are rare outside major shopping centers and large cities. ATOR recommended carrying a combination of cash yuan, a UnionPay card from a non-sanctioned Russian bank, and a loaded Alipay or WeChat e-wallet.
European-style meals at Chinese resorts cost roughly twice the price of local eateries, ATOR noted. The association also flagged China as a popular transit hub for flights to Southeast Asian destinations including Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
