Kevin Bacon made a rare red carpet appearance with his wife Kyra Sedgwick and their son Travis Bacon at the Lincoln Center showcase in New York City on Wednesday. The family gathered for the premiere of their new horror-comedy feature film, Family Movie, shown as part of the Scary Movies XIV showcase.
Bacon, 68, drew a sharp visual contrast to his 37-year-old son Travis, who towered over his father, sported jet black long hair, and displayed a prominent sleeve tattoo on his arm. Sedgwick, 61, joined her husband and son for the rare public appearance on the red carpet.

Family Movie is a horror-comedy feature co-directed by Bacon and Sedgwick. The film stars both directors alongside their son Travis and their 34-year-old daughter Sosie Bacon. Bacon is widely known for his starring role in the 1984 musical drama film Footloose, while Sedgwick gained acclaim for her award-winning television career.
Following the showcase, Bacon confirmed the theatrical release date in an Instagram post. "It’s official!! #FamilyMovie will officially be releasing in theaters April 23, 2027! We can’t wait to share this with all of you. Stay tuned!" he wrote.
Sedgwick also shared event outtakes with her 1.2 million Instagram followers. "NYC premiere of Family Movie at @filmlinc was gory good! Can’t wait for you to see it in theaters April 23," she posted after attending the screening at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in Manhattan.

Horror Comedy Plot and Release Details
According to Deadline, Family Movie follows a filmmaking family named the Smiths whose low-budget horror production takes a dark turn. Their movie turns into a real-life slasher when a dead body shows up on set, prompting chaos as the Smiths fight to keep the production on track.
Actress and social media personality Liza Koshy teased her involvement in the project by sharing a promotional poster from Deadline online. "Not a spoiler: That's my body they're chucking. See you in theaters spring '27, fam," Koshy told her followers.

Birthday Tributes and Family Celebration
Wednesday's red carpet premiere coincided with Sedgwick's 61st birthday, prompting tributes from her family online. Bacon, who married Sedgwick in 1988, posted a video montage writing, "Happy birthday @kyrasedgwickofficial, to another year of loving you." Sedgwick replied in the comments: "Omgggg love this my love ❤️."
Although Sosie Bacon was absent from the Lincoln Center premiere, she reshared promotional material on her personal Instagram account and paid tribute to her mother. "Happy birthday my queen. Leo ♌️ warrior. Fierce and goofy. Always makes me giggle. Loyal. Always there for everyone she loves. She’s a goddess among us. We’re so lucky to have you, mommy," Sosie wrote.

Travis Bacon marked his mother's birthday by sharing a throwback photograph from the set of the 1992 romantic comedy film Singles. The image showed Travis as a toddler alongside Sedgwick and her co-stars Matt Dillon and director Cameron Crowe. "Happy Birthday Mom. Sorry I ruined the Singles poster shoot. Love you," Travis wrote playfully.
Sedgwick celebrated her milestone birthday on her own Instagram account by posting red carpet photographs from past and present. "61 years on this Earth today, and I’m grateful for every single one of them!" she wrote.

Co-Directing Partnership and SXSW Reflections
The project marks a collaborative directorial effort for the longtime couple. Earlier this year, Bacon reflected on working alongside Sedgwick during an interview with People at the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas.
"It was a pretty familiar place to step back into, and to have my partner co-directing with me was just great because if I missed something or I slipped up or I forgot some detail, she was right there with it," Bacon told People.
Bacon and Sedgwick first met in 1987 while co-starring in the television movie Lemon Sky, an adaptation of Lanford Wilson's play, before marrying the following year.
