Katherine LaNasa said she wishes she could erase the first season of HBO's The Pitt, admitting that rewatching her Emmy-nominated performance left her far more critical of herself than fans might expect.
LaNasa, who won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2025 for her role as charge nurse Dana Evans, made the comments to Justin Sylvester during Live from E!: 2026 Emmys, ahead of the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, hosted by Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order: SVU.
"I just meant that I can't see myself. I was so surprised that I got nominated the first season," LaNasa told Sylvester, laughing as she added, "If it was an audition tape, I would have been like, 'Eh, it was okay.' You know, I think I feel like that when I look at myself."
Second nomination, no repeat win
This year LaNasa was nominated again in the same category, but the award went to Allison Janney for her work on The Diplomat, denying LaNasa a second consecutive win.
LaNasa said she would feel emotional regardless of the outcome. "I'd probably be emotional if anyone takes the statue home," said the Longmire and Justified actress. "Whoever gets that statue is going to have a great night, and I have one."
She attended the ceremony with her husband of more than 14 years, Grant Show, known for his role on Six Feet Under.
Reuniting with The Pitt's cast
LaNasa said she was looking forward to mixing with her fellow fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center colleagues, including Patrick Ball and Supriya Ganesh, as well as Noah Wyle, who went on to win Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series that night.
The Pitt entered the ceremony with 25 nominations, the most of any show in 2026 according to the Television Academy, and went on to win Outstanding Drama Series. Ernest Harden Jr. also won Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for the show, while Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden and Sepideh Moafi joined LaNasa as fellow nominees in the supporting actress category.
Dana Evans' arc in season two
Despite her mixed feelings about her early work, LaNasa said she is on board with how writers have developed Dana Evans across the 15 episodes of the show's second season. "They took her further," she said of her character's arc.
