The new anime spin-off series Kaiju No. 8: Narumi's Week at Work will premiere on the streaming service Crunchyroll on September 5, 2026.
The special short animation project consists of four episodes and focuses on the personal life and daily routine of character Gen Narumi.

The production is an independent parallel project rather than a third season of the main anime series. It will feature Japanese voice audio accompanied by Spanish subtitles upon its release.
Kaiju No. 8 origin story and plot
The original Kaiju No. 8 anime series premiered in April 2024, quickly becoming a major success due to its animation quality and fresh approach to the giant monster genre. The story is set in a version of Japan that lives under the constant threat of massive monsters, forcing the country to establish an elite defense force to protect citizens and destroy the creatures.
The narrative centers on Kafka Hibino, a 32-year-old man who failed to achieve his dream of joining the defense force and instead works for a cleanup crew tasked with disposing of the remains left behind after battles.

Hibino's life changes when a small organism enters his body, giving him the ability to transform into a monster designated as Kaiju No. 8. Armed with these new powers, Hibino decides to attempt to enlist in the Japan Defense Force once again.
Franchise background and characters
Character Gen Narumi serves as a prominent member of the defense force within the franchise, commanding its First Division. While the primary series emphasizes large-scale battles against monster threats, the four-episode short anime offers a closer look at Narumi's personal activities and working week.

The Kaiju No. 8 franchise originated as a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto before being adapted into television animation. Crunchyroll operates as a global video streaming platform that distributes anime series to international viewers.
