The Jonas Brothers have confirmed that informal talks are underway for a fourth Camp Rock film following the premiere of Camp Rock 3, revealing ambitions to expand the franchise into a shared Disney universe.
Band member Nick Jonas told Entertainment Weekly that the group has held conversations about connecting Camp Rock with other Disney Channel juvenile sagas, including Descendants and Zombies.
Nick Jonas explained that the brothers frequently sit down at the end of the day to brainstorm potential crossovers. He stated that the group could turn the franchise into a complete universe modelled on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Jonas Brothers, formed in 2005 by Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas, rose to international fame through Disney Channel projects in the late 2000s. The original Camp Rock movie debuted in 2008, centering on young musicians at a summer rock music camp, and spawned a 2010 sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.
Nick Jonas insisted that the discussions were serious and that reviving the franchise was not intended merely to capitalise on nostalgia. He noted that the goal of Camp Rock 3 was not simply to make a movie and walk down memory lane, but to serve as a starting point to launch global superstars and build a new era around the brand.
All three brothers returned in front of the camera for Camp Rock 3 as members of the fictional band Connect 3. Nick Jonas reprised his role as Nate, Joe Jonas returned as Shane, and Kevin Jonas played Jason. The trio also served as executive producers on the film.
Disney Channel has long produced popular musical films for teenage audiences. By referencing the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the media franchise produced by Marvel Studios, the brothers aim to link different Disney Channel musical storylines into one larger narrative world.
Future appearances and new cast members
Joe Jonas also expressed enthusiasm about participating in future instalments. He joked that the brothers are always willing to return as grandfathers, adding that fans should never say never and that the trio enjoys entering and exiting the saga while helping pass the baton to a new generation of performers.
Singer and actress Demi Lovato returned as an executive producer on Camp Rock 3 and briefly reprised her role as Mitchie Torres. The movie includes a line that sparked speculation about the future, when Shane asks Mitchie if they will meet at the same time next summer.
Lovato maintained that the scene was intended to convey that the joy Camp Rock brings to fans will continue past the conclusion of the film. Regarding a fourth movie, she chose to keep the situation a mystery, stating that viewers will have to wait and see.
Lovato launched her career alongside the Jonas Brothers in the original 2008 film before building a successful solo music and television career. Her return as both cast member and executive producer underscores the legacy of the franchise.
Younger cast and directorial reaction
The new generation of actors in Camp Rock 3 is also ready to return. Cast members Liamani Segura, Malachi Barton, Lumi Pollack, Hudson Stone, and Casey Trotter have all expressed interest in continuing their characters if Disney decides to move forward with Camp Rock 4.
Segura suggested a storyline for a potential sequel centered on the new band going on tour alongside Connect 3, exploring how their relationships change once outside the camp environment following the events of Camp Rock 3.
Barton noted that a future film could further develop the relationship between the characters Fletch and Sage. Meanwhile, Pollack admitted she would be willing to return regardless of the story just to reunite with her fellow cast members.
Disney has not officially announced Camp Rock 4, and director Veronica Rodriguez stated that she has no news regarding a fourth film. However, Rodriguez admitted she is manifesting her return and remains ready to step behind the camera once again.
The premiere of Camp Rock 3 makes clear that those responsible for the project do not view it as a one-off reunion. The Jonas Brothers are already planning how to extend the franchise, boost new lead actors, and connect with other Disney universes in a far more ambitious strategy.
