Jessica Alba has revealed the meaning behind the matching tattoos she got with her teenage daughter Honor to mark the teenager's 18th birthday. The 45-year-old actress posted to Instagram on Friday to share details of the identical eye ink the pair had inked on their left wrists.
Los Angeles-based fine-line artist Daniel 'Winterstone' Winter did the tattoos and told the Daily Mail this week that it had been 'a combined process we all designed.'
Alba shared a black-and-white photo of their wrists to show off the ink, which also included small infinity signs.

'Forever connected and protected, my baby girl - I love you @honor__warren,' the Fantastic Four star wrote in her caption.

How the Design Came Together
Another slide in Alba's post showed a painting made by Honor depicting a blue eye inside a heart, which appeared to be the inspiration behind the tattoos.

Eye tattoos are commonly associated with protection, as well as wisdom, clarity and intuition.
Alba could be seen smiling as the tattoo artist photographed her wrist, while Honor was pictured sitting calmly in a chair as Winter began the ink under a bright light.

A short reel was also added to the post giving followers a closer look at the matching tattoos. The Daily Mail has reached out to Alba's representatives for comment but had not heard back.
The Daily Mail first reported on Wednesday that Alba and Honor got the tattoos on the teenager's actual 18th birthday, June 7.

Winter, owner of Winterstone Tattoo Studio, told the Daily Mail: 'It was great giving Honor her first tattoo on her actual 18th birthday, and matching with her mom. I can't share the actual meaning, I'll leave that to the privacy of Jessica and her daughter. Tattooing Alba is always a great experience. She is such a kind, lovely human.'
He added: 'The eye was a combined process we all designed but, in the end, it was my creation that landed as the tattoo. I've worked with Jessica many times and I'm sure more to come!'
Honor's Own Tribute to the Tattoos
Alba and Honor have long shown their close bond on social media. Last month, Honor posted photos of the matching tattoos with the caption 'me x mama,' followed by infinity sign emojis.
Alba also posted a tribute to Honor in June to mark her 18th birthday. 'As I reflect on the last 18 years, I can honestly say they have been the most profound of my life,' she wrote. 'You opened my heart and expanded my understanding of love in ways I never knew were possible.'
She praised her daughter's kindness and humor, adding, 'You are wildly intelligent, endlessly curious, and I could not be more proud of the young woman you have become.'
'As you step into adulthood, part of me wants to hold you close forever and keep you safe,' Alba continued. 'But an even bigger part wants to watch you fly - to explore this world and discover everything that calls to your soul. And through it all, I will always be here.'
She added: 'Whether you need comforting when your sick, a hug, or miss home, I'll jump on a plane to see you - I'm here. Always.'

Honor's Path Into Filmmaking
Honor is following her mother into entertainment, with a particular passion for filmmaking. She made her directorial debut with a 16-minute short film titled Unsaid, which became available on Vimeo on July 2. She is set to attend Yale University in the fall to study English and film.
Alba stepped out with Honor and her other two children, Haven, 15, and Hayes, eight, for a low-key night out at Beverly Hills hotspot Funke on Monday.
Family Life After the Divorce
Alba shares her three children with ex-husband Cash Warren, whom she married in 2008. News of their split emerged in January 2025 after 16 years of marriage, and their divorce was finalized in February.

Alba and Warren did not sign a prenup and have agreed not to pay each other alimony. Under their divorce settlement they share joint custody of their children, and Warren will receive a $3 million payout as part of the division of assets, with half already paid in February and the remainder due in 2027.
Alba's Relationship With Danny Ramirez
Alba has since been linked romantically to actor Danny Ramirez. The pair were first connected in July 2025 after spending time together during a trip to Mexico.
In June, Ramirez joined Alba as Honor celebrated her 18th birthday in Beverly Hills. Last month, the couple attended Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding at Madison Square Garden in New York, with Alba sharing photos of their looks on Instagram. Also in July, Alba and Ramirez attended the FIFA World Cup Final in New Jersey.

The couple have also taken time out for an Italian vacation this summer, with Alba sharing selfies with Ramirez while wearing a bikini.

Alba has been keeping busy professionally as well, recently spotted on the set of the upcoming 13 Going On 30 reboot. Details of her role are being kept under wraps, but she was joined on set by Honor.
