Jamie Campbell Bower said playing Celeborn in the third season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” was a terrifying ordeal, citing the intense emotional attachment fans have to J.R.R. Tolkien’s world.
The “Stranger Things” star told Entertainment Weekly he was glad to have joined the show but said the role tested him more than most. He said every person carries an emotional attachment to Tolkien’s work, which he found incredible but also frightening.
Bower added that while much of his previous work had been quite dark, the world of Middle-earth also holds a lot of beauty and magnificence.
Season 3 premieres November 11. The new episodes will advance the story toward the events of Peter Jackson’s film trilogy, with Galadriel again at the center as Sauron seizes power in Middle-earth and prepares to forge the One Ring.
