The price analysis, based on average night costs recorded between October 17 and November 1, 2026, compares against an average summer rate of 140 euros per night. Although many travelers seek off-peak bargains in September and October, high demand during the All Saints' school break drives rates higher overall.
Hotels.com is an online accommodation booking platform operated by Expedia Group, providing reservations across global hotel networks. The Toussaint holidays mark a major two-week autumn school vacation period in France surrounding All Saints' Day on November 1.
Cheaper sunny destinations for autumn
Despite the overall national price increase, Hotels.com identified five sunny destinations where average nightly hotel rates are lower during the Toussaint break than in the summer months.
In France, accommodation in Corse-du-Sud averages 126 euros per night during the autumn break, compared to 172 euros during the summer. In Europe, the Balearic island of Ibiza shows a 27 percent drop in hotel prices, averaging 170 euros per night as the island transitions away from its peak summer clubbing season into a quieter period.
Corse-du-Sud forms the southern department of the French island of Corsica in the Mediterranean Sea, renowned for its coastal towns and dramatic scenery. Ibiza, located off the eastern coast of Spain, is internationally famous for its summer nightlife and Mediterranean beaches.
For long-haul travel, hotel prices in the Seychelles show the largest decrease, dropping 46 percent to an average of 189 euros per night compared to 350 euros in summer. Search volume for the archipelago grew by 25 percent for the Toussaint period, according to the platform.
Rates in Cape Verde drop to an average of 95 euros per night for the Toussaint holiday, compared to 151 euros in summer. Across the Atlantic, hotels in Miami average 139 euros per night, representing a 34 percent reduction from summer figures.
The Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean off East Africa, while Cape Verde comprises ten volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean off West Africa. Miami is a major coastal metropolis in southern Florida known for its Atlantic beaches and warm climate.
Emerging European autumn destinations
Major European capitals including Paris, London, and Rome continue to draw strong tourist numbers this autumn. However, four other destinations are seeing significant growth in interest among holidaymakers seeking autumn city breaks.
Searches for Edinburgh in Scotland grew by 40 percent compared to 2025, with average room prices reaching 195 euros per night, down from 209 euros during the summer. In Norway, searches for Tromsø increased by 75 percent compared to the same period last year, driven by the start of the Northern Lights season.
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland, famous for its medieval old town and historic castle. Located above the Arctic Circle in northern Norway, Tromsø is a premier Scandinavian hub for viewing the aurora borealis, a natural light display visible in polar regions during clear autumn and winter nights.
Within France, domestic travel searches surged for Saint-Malo and Lille, rising by 80 percent and 70 percent respectively. Hotels.com noted these cities appeal to travelers seeking coastal breaks or historical urban exploration.
