Dame Helen Mirren joined co-star Tom Hardy at the MobLand season two premiere in London on Thursday night following reports of on-set tension.
The 81-year-old Oscar winner embraced 48-year-old Hardy on the red carpet before posing with co-star Pierce Brosnan, marking the cast's first public reunion since claims of production clashes.
Reports of major behind the scenes friction between Hardy and production during filming had led to claims that the actor was departing the show after its second season.
However, Hardy and producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser are currently working through their creative differences in time to begin shooting series three this autumn.
Red carpet fashion at London premiere
Dame Helen Mirren looked sensational in a £4,470 silver sequined gown from designer Jenny Packham. She plays family matriarch Maeve Harrigan in the Paramount+ series.
While Mirren dressed up for the occasion, Hardy opted for a more casual look, foregoing a suit for an $825 white shirt and trousers from Rogue & Sons.
His bold shirt featured a blue painting of The Tower of Babel by German artist Wilhelm von Kaulbach.
Pierce Brosnan, who portrays Maeve's husband Conrad Harrigan, put on a dapper appearance in a pinstripe blazer jacket and matching pinstripe suit trousers.
Brosnan completed his look with a black and white spotted shirt, matching tie, and stylish shades. He joined Mirren and Hardy on the carpet, where Hardy kept his hand on Mirren while embracing Brosnan.
Lara Pulver stood out from the crowd in a strapless yellow dress from American fashion designer Prabal Gurung, paired with silver drop earrings.
Pulver was seen posing with leading lady Mirren and co-star Joanne Froggatt, with Mirren and Pulver holding hands during a moment on the carpet.
Joanne Froggatt wowed in a black maxi dress featuring dramatic shoulders. Brosnan kissed Froggatt on the cheek as they embraced during arrivals.
Emmett J Scanlan showcased his muscular physique in a sheer black top beneath a black blazer jacket.
Director Guy Ritchie attended alongside Jacqui Ainsley, with the couple looking loved up on the red carpet. Hardy beamed alongside Ritchie as cast members joked around together in a friendly display.
Star-studded guest list in attendance
A wide selection of high-profile guests attended the London event alongside the ensemble cast, which also includes Teddie Allen and Mandeep Dhillon. Dhillon kept her style simple in a black strapless dress.
Millie Mackintosh looked incredible as she attended the premiere, while Roxy Horner caught the eye in a black mesh mini dress from Oh Polly.
Kimberley Garner sizzled in a plunging blue maxi dress, and Megan Barton-Hanson selected a strapless brown leather dress.
Strictly Come Dancing professional Nadiya Bychkova and reality personality Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu both turned heads in white outfits. Bychkova put on a leggy display in a Kylie Minogue-esque dress.
Bychkova's ex, dancer Kai Widdrington, arrived at the venue with his girlfriend Chloe Wells.
Sports stars also joined the red carpet lineup. Former Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel cut a smart figure, while Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino attended with his wife Lola.
Arsenal footballer Viktor Gyökeres arrived alongside his actress girlfriend Inês Aguiar.
Former snowboarder Aimee Fuller looked stylish in double denim. Actor Nick Moran appeared in high spirits, while Sally Wood stunned in a black mini dress. Spencer Matthews opted for an orange suit.
Behind the scenes creative clashes
The red carpet reunion follows months of speculation regarding behind the scenes friction involving lead actor Hardy.
Disagreements over the creative direction of the show were first reported in May by the Puck newsletter, which claimed Hardy had been dismissed from MobLand following clashes with producers during season two filming.
Despite those reports, Hardy's character, fixer Harry Da Souza, was not written out of the story at the conclusion of the second season.
Hardy is now working alongside producers Butterworth and Glasser to resolve creative differences before production on season three starts this autumn.
Mirren recently jumped to Hardy's defence in interviews and on social media, having previously posted a photo captioned "Love you now and always" on Instagram and stating publicly that she would work with him again in a heartbeat.
Speaking to Radio Times, Mirren reflected on working with fellow actors as she has matured. "You do learn certain things as you get older," Mirren mused. "About how to work with people, really."
Mirren added that while she has not become more forgiving, she has learned to appreciate different working styles. "What you learn is every single person is different; every single person has their own way of doing things," she said. "There's not one way, there's a million different ways."
She emphasized that achieving quality on screen requires creative freedom. "What you want is what's on the screen, or what's on the stage, to be great," Mirren said. "And the only way to do that is for everyone to feel that they can be free to create and explore and experiment and f*** up."
Mirren noted that she has endlessly "f**ked up" herself during her career, adding that she thrives in a collaborative environment. "I love to work in an ensemble situation, and MobLand is very ensemble," she said. "It suits me just fine."
MobLand plot and season two storyline
MobLand is a London-set crime drama directed by Guy Ritchie for Paramount+, revolving around the Harrigan crime family and their fixer Harry Da Souza, played by Hardy.
Season two picks up immediately after the bloody events of the first series, with Harry caught between increasingly dangerous factions as he attempts to prevent the Harrigan empire from imploding.
Conrad Harrigan, played by Brosnan, and Maeve Harrigan, played by Mirren, remain the power couple at the centre of the family.
However, their relationship and control over the organisation come under severe strain as new rivals move against their criminal network while the family attempts to project a united front.
