HBO Max has released the trailer for Infamia, a new Spanish psychological thriller miniseries starring Susana Abaitua that will premiere on November 13.

Adapted from the novel of the same name by the Galician author Ledicia Costas, the first season consists of six episodes running roughly 50 minutes each. The series centres on a criminal investigation in a small town where residents are determined to keep their buried secrets hidden.
Ahead of its streaming debut on HBO Max, the drama will hold its world premiere at the South International Series Festival in Cádiz, in southern Spain. The series will compete in the festival's official section, with its first two episodes scheduled to screen on October 31.
Plot of the Infamia miniseries
The story follows Emma Cruz, a lawyer played by Abaitua who is going through a deep personal crisis when she begins looking into an unsolved case. Twenty years earlier, two girls vanished under mysterious circumstances.
What initially appears to be just another investigation gradually turns into an obsession that threatens to change the lawyer's life forever. As she digs deeper into the cold case, she encounters a community where nobody seems willing to tell the whole truth about what happened two decades ago.
The investigation also forces Cruz to confront the ghosts of her own past. She carries long-standing trauma from the death of her sister during childhood, a loss for which she has always felt guilty.
Susana Abaitua and the Infamia cast
Abaitua, a Goya Award nominee born in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the Basque Country, leads the ensemble. She is known to television and film audiences for her performances in the drama series Patria and the thriller Un fantasma en la batalla.
The supporting cast includes Jorge Bosch, Jon Olivares, Ane Gabarain, Íñigo Gastesi, Eva Llorach, Kandido Uranga and Luis Gnecco, among others.
The project reunites several actors from HBO Europe's 2020 adaptation of Fernando Aramburu's novel Patria, which featured Abaitua alongside Gabarain, Olivares and Gastesi. Gabarain later won the Goya Award for Best Supporting Actress for 20,000 Species of Bees, while Llorach won the Goya for Best New Actress for Quién te cantará. Gnecco is a veteran Chilean actor recognized internationally for roles in Narcos and Neruda.
Directors, writers and the Ledicia Costas novel
Infamia is directed by Agustina Macri and Beatriz Sanchís from a screenplay written by Manuel Gancedo and Eduardo Torallas. The series is produced by Evafilms with the participation of EiTB, the public broadcasting service of Spain's Basque Country.
Macri is an Argentine filmmaker who made her feature directorial debut with the 2018 biographical drama Soledad, while Sanchís is a Spanish filmmaker whose debut feature, Todos están muertos, earned multiple Goya Award nominations.
The adaptation brings one of Ledicia Costas's best-known adult works to television. Born in Vigo in 1979, Costas is one of the most prominent Galician writers in contemporary Spanish literature. She built her reputation primarily through children's and young adult fiction, winning Spain's National Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature in 2015 for Escarlatina, a cociñeira defunta, before expanding her readership among adult audiences with her 2019 novel Infamia.
Following its two-episode premiere at the South International Series Festival in Cádiz on October 31, Infamia will debut on HBO Max on November 13.
